Following my last post about how Amazon helped me retire my mom after building and selling an Amazon brand, a lot of people started asking me:

“What made the difference?”

“How were you able to make it while so many others fail?”

And honestly… the biggest difference was the strategy taught by my Amazon millionaire mentor, and learning how to pick the right product.

Thus, I'm going to share with you the 5 BIG LESSONS to help you find your first winning product

Because when I first started, I made the same mistake most beginners make.

I thought I could just randomly pick a product and it would sell.

My first product was fake eyelashes.

And I got destroyed.

I didn’t understand competition. I didn’t understand branding. I didn’t realize I was going against huge established brands with money, influencers, teams, and years of momentum behind them… while I was just a one-man show. That mistake left me around $6,000+ in debt.

And that’s when I realized: Going into business without proper guidance is like learning how to drive by yourself and expecting not to crash.

That’s when I invested tens of thousands of dollars into mentorship and learned from my millionaire mentors, and here are the exact criteria that helped me find my first winning product:

1. Find products with daily demand:

Riches are in the niches. Back then, my background was in education. I was tutoring math, physics, and chemistry. So my first business partner and I went deep into the education niche with audio recording devices for students.

2. Improve weak competitors:

Most competitors were selling outdated, bulky devices with poor instructions and weak customer support.

So we focused on:

• Sleeker design

• Better customer support

• More storage

• Better instructions

• Better overall experience

That helped us stand out immediately.

3. Avoid low-ticket products:

Most beginners try to play “safe” and choose cheap products. Big mistake!

We focused on products around $35–$40+ because:

• Better margins

• Less competition

• Easier branding

• Lower stress on ads

30% margin on $40 is a lot different than 30% on $10.

4. Focus on lightweight + low-risk products:

My mentor told me something I’ll never forget: “Your first business is not about maximizing profit. It’s about learning the game and risk management.”

Small, lightweight, less fragile products help you move faster and cheaper. Just like dating…

You wouldn’t take someone you just met to a Lamborghini dealership and buy them a car on the first date.

You test first.

Same thing in business.

5. Build the foundation right:

Most people rush product research. But if your foundation is weak, no amount of ads will save a broken product later.

That’s why, within 3–4 months:

• We found the product

• Developed it

• Produced it

• Shipped it to Amazon

• Launched and started scaling

And eventually, I hit my first $10,200 in sales in the first month of June that year.

By the end of that year, we crossed $263,319 in revenue with around 35% net profit as a 20-something-year-old kid fresh out of college.

I’m sharing this not to flex.

I’m sharing this because there are too many fake gurus selling dreams without real systems, real mentorship, or real execution.
